Missouri Home Explosion Kills Two Children, Search Underway for Homeowners

Explosion Destroys House Outside of Excelsior Springs

Authorities in Missouri are searching for the residents of a home after a large explosion early Friday morning. Video from the scene shows the Excelsior Springs home completely leveled. Two bodies were found in the rubble, believed to be the residents.

A dog was also found dead in the wreckage of the home. Rescue crews are searching for the two adults who lived in the home, but they have not yet been found.

Explosion Kills Two Children

The explosion happened around 1:30 a.m. in the small town of Excelsior Springs, which is located about 30 miles northeast of Kansas City.

The cause of the explosion is still under investigation. However, authorities said they do not believe it was caused by a natural gas leak.

Search Underway for Homeowners

The homeowners, a husband and wife in their 50s, have not been seen since the explosion.

Search crews are using dogs and heavy equipment to search through the rubble for the missing homeowners.

Community in Mourning

The Excelsior Springs community is in mourning after the tragic loss of the two children.

A candlelight vigil is planned for Friday evening to remember the victims.
