Netherlands Hold France to Draw
PARIS, France - Top-ranked France were held to a disappointing 1-1 draw by the Netherlands in their opening match of the 2024 European Championship on Tuesday.
Kylian Mbappé gave France an early lead, but the Dutch equalized through Frenkie de Jong just before halftime. Despite a dominant second half, Les Bleus were unable to find a winning goal.
The result leaves France in second place in Group A, behind the Netherlands and ahead of Austria, who were also held to a draw in their opening match against Romania.
France will face Austria in their second group match on Saturday, while the Netherlands will play Romania.
